SOFIAC Canada enables decarbonization of adMare BioInnovations' buildings with a $3.275M investment

MONTREAL, QC, September 3, 2024 - SOFIAC Canada and adMare BioInnovations are proud to announce their new collaboration to implement an energy efficiency and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction project, in line with the environmental values of the organization working in the life sciences sector.

The unique opportunity of a no upfront investment solution and long-term turnkey support has made SOFIAC Canada the partner of choice for adMare. SOFIAC Canada has committed a total investment of $3.275 million. The project, implemented by SIEMENS Canada, SOFIAC Canada's technical partner, will involve the deployment of several energy efficiency and building decarbonization measures, as well as the reduction of electricity demand to meet Hydro-Québec's power management objective.

SOFIAC Canada's investment and support throughout the project design and implementation process by Siemens will enable adMare to preserve its investment capacity, achieve its environmental goals, and realize energy savings.

The relationship between adMare and Siemens Canada spans more than 10 years and is built on a strong foundation of service, support and expertise delivered by Siemens across building technology and energy management projects over the years. This most recent collaboration will develop an energy efficiency and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction project to support adMare in meeting meet its environmental engagements.

" In Canada, buildings accounted for more than 17% of greenhouse gases in 2020.  The adMare team recognized the impact of our facilities on the environment due to the high energy consumption of buildings housing laboratories. Our collaboration with SOFIAC will enable us to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by more than 59%, which is a further milestone in our commitment to sustainability. The savings generated at the operational level will allow us to maintain favorable conditions for companies established at the adMare Innovation Centre in Montreal, contributing to our ongoing mission to create a dynamic and thriving life sciences ecosystem."

– Dominic Vachon, Senior Director, Operations & Innovation Centres
